What is the role of a Father in the overall Development of a Child ?

The role of father has never been appreciated to the extent as that of the Mother; nevertheless they play a very important role in the overall growth and development of a child. A child learns a lot of things in his life from father that nobody could ever teach. From the very childhood we start observing a lot of things from our father and inculcating them in our lives. There are an uncountable number of traits that we take from our father! We are going to some of those traits that we take from our father…

1. Fearlessness

One of the very important traits that children take from their father is fearlessness that is important to achieve anything in life. Generally children observe their father and they learn how he is handling every matter fearlessly and that is when they develop this significant trait in their lives.

2. Ability to take challenges

A child watches his father everyday how he takes on every challenge and devotes himself to it for finding a solution for it no matter what. And, from the very early age the child starts learning how to fight with the challenges at workplace as well as in family. This develops in the child an attitude to walk on the path of his/her father and take challenges as an opportunity.

3. Ability to Analyze

A father figure is someone who analyzes every situation and takes decisions on the basis of that if there is any situation how it must be analyzed. This is one of those traits in a human being that helps in every stage of life and it is the father from whom we inherit this trait. We don't often realize but our father teaches us a number of important things in life.

4. Being Responsible

The way a father takes up all the responsibilities of the family and work is really intriguing to the child. He observes everything and all his future gets based upon that sense of responsibility that his father has shown all though his life. So, all of us have learnt that sense of responsibility for the task which we have been assigned.

5. Taking Care of Loved Ones

A father is someone in the family who takes care of all the needs of the entire family without worrying about his own. This is what makes the bond stronger and respect for father gets doubled I our eyes. We all have experienced that love, care and affection in the eyes of our father that has made us what we are today.

6. Respecting women

We have seen our father how respectful he has been towards the women in the family be it his wife, daughter or mother and that is what has made us to understand that respecting women is the foremost thing in life. One the other hand if one has a father who is not so respectful to women then will also learn the similar way of life. These are only some of those very significant traits that a child observes and learns from his/her father. Although, we pay heed to the essence of mother's day celebration and talk often about the crucial role that a mother plays in a child's development, we must now learn to make our fathers feel that his contributions are not being overlooked. Father's Day 2018 is going to be celebrated on 17th of June and this Father's Day we must come together to celebrate the love that a father gives us.
